Hey. I am loving Vice City on my PC(radeon 9700 pro.... 1280x1024x32 6xFSAA 16xAA ). Are there any similar games out there for mac? Even games like Midtown Madness 1 and 2 are good, which both let you drive around cities and mess things up. Anybody know of any games like these?

Also, is there anything like Ghost Recon but updated? I could go for a counterstrike game, especially if it supported widescreen on my new Tibook 1Ghz.

Driving and messing things up would be Carmageddon. I think that game is at least 4 years old, though, so it would run in Classic. But man, it's awesome to be able to drive around and mess stuff up and race and never run out of time, the odds are all on your side.

Nascar Racing 2003 was just released if I recall correctly, there's a demo over on MacGameFiles.com, but you can't really mess stuff up in that game, it's just driving. Bah.

There was an overhead Grand Theft Auto-typed game that was released a few months ago but I can't remember the name. Gah.

Thats the closest thing I have seen.

As for Ghost Recon type there was a MOD for Quake3 released a few days ago that is pretty good.

For an old game with great graphics, check out syndicate wars. It was a killer game.

This site has a couple of really low-res screenshots, and a link to buy the game for $6. Trust me, it's more fun and better looking than those screenshots let on.
Dooby, dooby doo.

Well it's fun to set the damage to 'realistic' and start circling the track in reverse. So of the head-on collisions and pile ups can get pretty fun to watch in replay at various camera shots.

hrm.. Urban Terror looks cool. Pain in the butt to install though, something like 300mb to download in total. Looks good in widescreen on my powerbook though. Thanks for the tip. This game should be fun... any idea how many servers/players it has?

There are usually a good chunk of servers out there. Not sure the quantity since I haven't been on in a while myself, but there were usually some good ones what will have 14+ players on it for some good battles. Team Death Match is the most fun, IMO, but you have CTF and other options as well. They have tons of maps to download there and many are very well put together. Hope that helps.

Ah-hah! That's the one I was thinking of, I tried the demo... and it feels (well, three months ago when I played the demo) a little like Grand Theft Auto 1 for Playstation. People say it's awesome, though. Hey, stealing cars and killing people... sounds like a party to me.

Ah yes. The reality mod for Quake 3. Back when I was on my Action Quake 2 (Reality mod for Quake 2) fix in 1999 or so and I wanted so badly to move to Quake 3, but there were no mods I wanted to play... then this was released. Very good mod. There is now an official "Reaction Quake 3", from the original Action crew, it's also pretty nice: http://www.reactionquake3.com/

Hah! I haven't actually played Nascar 2003, but that does sound pretty cool. Screw racing games. Demolition derbies own.
