Sorry to ask this here, but I am stuck on a PC computer for the rest of the week and I brought my WC III and FThrone games up to play. They installed just fine, but when it starts, it plays the opening and then blacks out. I think the computer might not have enough Video Ram but it is not a standard computer, it was put together and my Mother-In-Law doesn't know the video card installed, is it possible for me to check on it with OUT opening the computer? She is running Windows 98, has 256 MB RAM and a 2GHz processor. Any help is appreciated so I can get my WC fix!!
Thanks

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Display

If you have a card, it should list the make/model there. Sometimes onboard video doesn't though. You should have a sufficient card. All you need is a 8MB Direct X 8. Which means anything from the last few years.

Did you try hitting ESC? I think when I first launched TFT the screen stayed black until I mashed the keyes.

Also, just curios as to why she is running Windows 98. The machine is obviously newer than that. Oh yea, make sure your DirectX is up to date. It might not be with 98 installed.

Windows 98 is what she is use to and really only what she needs. She has a guy build it and fix it for her and she was worried about upgrading. WCIII installed DirectX, so that should be good. I will try hitting keys, I think I tried return and keyboard, but not esc. Thanks for the help. I looked at the card, it is a SIS card with 64 MB of vram, so that should be good, I hope the key thing works. Thanks again benb!!

What are you trying to launch, ROC or TFT, or both? Yea, the card should be fine then.
