Have you all had problems with games and Apple Cinema Displays because of Resolution issues? I want to buy one, but this worries me.

Widescreen is the wrong choice for gaming... most games a) stretch a 4:3 image to fill the screen, causing much grossness and vomiting, or b) run with fat black bars on the sides of the screen (better IMO, but still bad).

Of course, if you can deal with stretching or black bars, then you're fine...
Be happy.

i thought that for most/every game/s you can redo the resolution manually, and all will be well...

i would actually think that it would be a cooler gaming experience.

Many 3D games support widescreen resolutions just fine. As an example, EverQuest, Jedi Knight 2, Civ3 and many Quake3 and Unreal-based games support widescreen resolutions.

It depends what type of games you want to play. Most first person shooters can have the config files altered to do wide-screen ratios. I have a 20inch CD and I love it in fps games because the wide-screen ratio can actually give you a larger field of view for a slight advantage (you can see more in your peripheral vision so-to-speak). LCD's are not optimal for games but Apple's displays seem up to the task. I still recommend you go to the store and play Quake or UT2003 demos to see if they suit you.
Newer games like UT2003 even have the wide-screen rezes available in the in-game menus at last (the demo for UT2003 doesn't do it in the menus but you can easily change the config file). Other types of games may have limits to only 4:3 so I don't know much about them.

Off the top of my head games that support widescreen:

Quake 3
MOHAA
MOHAA Spearhead
UT2003
Wolfenstein
Elite Forces
SOF II

Errr...there's nothing wrong with widescreen AT ALL. Any GOOD programmer would dynamically change their camera view to accomodate ANY resolution.

Maybe you're still in Matrix world?

p.s. motion sickness can be prevented with a medicine. Please see your doctor for more information.

Er, ok anyway, Warcraft 3 is another game that supports widescreen natively.

I found in things like UT2K3 that playing on a 23" was great. I manually set the resolution in the files, (I halved the max res. so that I wouldn't get LCD blurrinnes). Let's just say, that was too cool. Sucks though, that screen is gone now

The only game I've played widescreen is Warcraft III, but it is beautiful on the 20" Cinema Display. Frozen throne too.

America's Army at the 20" Cinema Display native resolution (1680x1050) is hard to beat. I like the wide aspect ratios for FPS games. Less "tunnel vision."
