Has anybody played Freedom Force on a powerbook? On my 1ghz tibook w/ radeon 9000 mobility it suffers serious vsync problems. I need to enable vsync in the freedom force config files (where are they and how do i edit them, i couldn't figure it out), or just enable it permanently in the OSX opengl drivers, if this is even possible. Anyway this game is hardly playable in the current state because moving around the camera at all causes horizontal "lines" or glitches that travel from the bottom of the screen to the top. I had a less severe case of this with quake III and enabling vsync fixed it.

I don't think there is a way, since I've never heard of it being used on a Mac. Besides, vsync is usually used for CRT monitors, to keep the framerate in sync with the monitor's refresh rate. I don't think it's used on an LCD.

uh no way dude. i have 3 dell flat panel lcds, and a powerbook, and I have definitely seen vast improvements when enabling vsync.
On Quake III on my powerbook, enabling vsync got rid of the problem i am describing (tearing).
On Counterstrike on my PC, Dell lcd, enabling vsync got rid of the tearing.
its unfortunate and retarded that you can't force vsync on OSX. Hopefully they will fix this with the next release.

You can't turn on/off Vsync in OSX, it can only be done if a game has the option to do this, it's a while sincve I played Freedom Force, but I think there is an option somewhere in the menus to turn on Vsync.

I can't! The requirements state a G4 500 at least (IIFC). I'm stuck with a B/W G3 overclocked to 450 until my dual 2.0 G5 arrives.
The wait is killing me!
As soon as I get the G5, I'll install this game and check it out.

If anyone gets an "unexpectedly Quit" message like I did when first playing the game, and trashing preferences did no good, then you should trash the options.dat file in
users/Library/Application Support/Freedom Force/options.dat
The game runs fine on my 17", although there is some flicker in later stages with resolution set to max. It was cool figuring out finally how to customize my own characters with maximal powers and send them against each other in the danger room. Too bad I could not use these characters in the actual game; only in the danger room. Wonder if there are any cheats for this, since I won the game.
