if i can mount my archers, the i would be easily able to beat it. any suggestions would be appreciated.

What version are you playing? I believe after 1.10 you have to have the Hippos near the archers and just click the button.

But if that's not the problem, hmm.

Maybe try talons/dryads with a few bears to take the hits. Be liberal with the moon wells and protectors. Just kill the siege.
Oh, and goblin land mines rock.

Have several ancients of lore so that you can
replenish your forces quickly. Try to stop
your allies from dying for as long as possible
they will only attacks the orcs after the
humans are down and they will only attack
you when the orcs are down.

Plant those land mines and watch the ghouls
blow up

It was probably the patch. There is much less testing of the patches in SP than MP, and many of the patches that balance MP play severely cripple SP play, because the balance changes don't carry over well. Most likely there is a bug in the patch.

Although with 1.10 you get tranquility every 60 seconds! I had to wait twice as long when I beat it. But then again, dryads were crazy powerful.

I don't know if its 1.10 or 1.11 but one of those set the campaign games to 1.01 stats (the stats they were designed for). I dont know about the rider problem though.
