Anyone know the status on the UT port to X project? Last I heard, Glenda had moved on and someone else had picked up the project. Has anyone heard any news? I'm awaiting anxiously for this one.

Considering how old the game is, I doubt anyone's working on it any more. The last version for X that came out seemed to work just fine for me.
I wouldn't hold your breath or anything

Did you click on the links and read what was at the sites? I suggest you do so before making those types of statements.

There's no need to be rude. Not all links are click-worthy

Someone is working on it. It was being worked on by someone else previously (with the previous betas), but she left the project behind when she changed jobs. Someone else has picked it up now, and it sounds like he's doing it in his spare time. Which means that it's probably not getting much attention.
It may be an old game, but I still love it. I would really love a (relatively) bug free OS X version.

And I think it's way better than UT 2003

UT is my fave game. And I own UT2003 too. I hope somebody is still working on the original UT.

The head guy from UT2K3 (forgot his name at the moment...) stated in an interview on www.insidemacgames.com that development on fully patching UT to work in OS X was "indefinitely stalled" at that no one was currently looking at finishing the project, sadly enough. I'm glad my G4 PowerMac (when it arrives) will dual-boot as I'll be using OS 9 primarily to play UT on.

When was this interview? The guy who ported UT2K3 for Mac, Ryan Gordon, is also working on finishing up the UT port for OS X. In an earlier message near the top of this thread I posted links to his .plan which gives status reports on his various projects. The UTPG project is where he keeps his Mac UT OS X status report. For the most part, I don't post crap links, so don't be afraid to click on them.

Whoa! Well I'll be! I got my stories confused somehow...I was actually recalling an interview w/ Glenda Adams from "Westlake" who *was* working on an OS X port, but ceased when she quit Westlake...however, Ryan Gordon obviously stated he'd like to take that project over, so I guess we'll see if it ever comes to pass...
--*from the interview...*--
"Tuncer: Ryan Gordon recently announced that he's going to be taking over the work you did on the OS X port of Unreal Tournament. What are your thoughts on that?
Glenda: I think it's a great thing, I talked to him about it and it's the best solution to get a tested and stable version of UT for OS X out there. Ryan's a great programmer, and he'll hopefully have the time to put into that I just couldn't seem to find. With my leaving Westlake, it was pretty iffy that I could work on UT X, with various licensing and copyright issues."
