If you check out Ryan's .plan today he released a new OpenAL lib for America's Army. It fixes the sound crash with the Revo 7.1 sound cards. It can also be used in UT2K3 for a slight performance boost:

I don't understand his points about dual-CPU usage...why does he say something about single-CPU users will benefit more?

the sound thread will run by itself on the 2nd CPU on dual CPU systems. That will be pretty much all the 2nd CPU will be doing when playing UT etc. So, reducing the load on that 2nd CPU won't improve frame rates much because the first CPU is focusing on the graphics by itself, it's not sharing with the sound thread; and the sound thread is all the 2nd CPU has to do.

good on you for posting this everywhere a2daj. Saw your email on xlr8yourmac.com

The only thing that pisses me off - we get America's Army, and now they've gone and updated to 1.9 without mac and linux versions. so nobody's on any of the servers!
