Does anyone have news when ET is going to come out for MAC? I heard they were working on bringing it to OS X-but haven`t got a date yet.

heh , who would do that?? Westlake did the original RtCW but to me, they made a mess of it... and they sure are not going to do it for free.. The only person I can see doing this is Ryan Gordon who ported America's Army and UT2003 to Mac...

I volunteered to do the ET port for free...and I'm a Westlake employee.

A pity:/ I thought the original RTCW port was quite well done, and that would have been most of the hard work for ET.

Friendly reminder as you are new to this forum - when referring to a Macintosh, it's Mac, not MAC.

Westlake didn't make a mess of RtCW. It's a good port. Now trying to get Activision/id to approve something in a timely manner, that's a whole different story. The only thing RtCW is missing is support for texture compression.

hmm well Duane from westlake did RtCW I think, I just always had a strange problem with RtCW always showing it 24bit instead of 32bit causing my colors to be real ugly, like the wires on beach, they are almost white and reflecting and stuff... I don't have that with mohaa or q3, jk2,... wich are all great ports indeed.

How did you arrive at 24 bit? If you wanna post a screenshot of the problem, then I bet someone might be able to help.

Well when I set RtCW to 32bit (color/textures), it does it , but when I check the driver info button, it says 24bit... while q3, mohaa, JK2,... are saying in driver info im on 32bit.
On an LCD screen I know the colors aren't perfect when you don't set the screen to its native resolution. But they are perfect in all my games if I switch to the native LCD screen resolution , except for RtCW that still has those bad color transitions that low resolutions give me... like the smoke and fog, especially on assault It's extremely ugly...
The strange part is when I set RtCW to windowed mode , it says 32bit in driver info and the colors look normal..like I wish them to be in fullscreen...

You should try contacting them again, though I can understand that you wouldn't want anything to do with them after they ignore your first proposal like that.

There's a guy by the nick of CannonFodder who has far more connections with them than I do. I agreed to let him try to convince them to make it happen. That was a few months ago. I've heard indirectly that the main reason it's not going ahead is that it'll cost Activision money to QA the Mac version that they did not budget for. Anyway, I'm not going to get into this much further. Splash Damage has a forum for ET. If you're interested in a Mac version, the best thing you can do is let them know, not me.

maybe convince them by saying that us mac folks would be willing to pay for the port. Maybe that will convince them to go ahead with it. i'd be willing to pay 20 bucks for ET, wouldn't you?

Any post on it on Splash damage's forums will result in a lock / deletion of the thread
I don't see why activision would have to pay to have someone port a free game for free.
