Alright, I'm still on my franken iMac... .600mhz harmoni...512 megs ram....7200rpm hard drive... EIGHT meg gamewizard (yeah, whatever, it works okay).
Anyway, I get like 5-15 minutes worth of playing, then it locks, and I have to restart. It's really pissing me off. This is only during online play, I think. Anyone have any ideas?

Could be an overheating problem.
However, there's also a chance it's software related so try the usual troubleshooting things like allocating more or less memory to the game, zapping the PRAM, reinstalling the game, reinstalling the OS if that doesn't help.

If you're using OS X, then you should wait for an update to UT X by Ryan Gordon.
If you're using OS 9 then I'm not sure how to fix that beside formatting/reinstalling your computer

If he's using a Gamewizard, then he's using a 3dfx card. No 3dfx drivers for OS X.

I'm with Adam. Except for the reformatting. Deleting the UT folder and reinstalling is usually good enough for me.
What OS are you trying to run this on?

OS 9 is not Windows. Full reinstalls are seldom the first answer.
Run Disk First Aid, see if the file system is OK. Fix it if there are errors. UT is one game that seems to like virtual memory, so it may be more vulnurable to HD errors than other games.
UT still hanging? Increase memory allocation, and/or move the preference file to the desktop so it will be recreated clean. The preference file "Unreal.ini" is located in the UT folder rather than the Preferences folder. Preference file corruption is one of the most common causes of application misbehavior.
If UT does hang only during online sessions ... do you have a noisy phone line? Pick the phone up, punch one number to kill the dial tone, and listen. A slight background hum is ok, crackle and pops are not. Strong background hums are bad. Ideally, the phone line should be dead silent. And stay that way, even when the fridge or other appliances start up.
Check your network settings, see if you are set to close the connection after 15 minutes of inactivity. That preference has been unreliable for me, either cutting me off from an active connection, or leaving the connection running all night, hours after a large download finished.

I had that same problem with my imac + gamewizard that I never did actually solve. Do any other games freeze? Things would freeze faster or slower depending on the intensity of the game for me..
I'm pretty sure it was an overheating problem, but since I got a new computer I don't really care anymore
