I've been playing NOLF for a while w/ a kensington 5 button mouse. Yesterday when I started it all buttons were reading as left button. This was true for my Macally track ball too.

I tried unplugging and replugging the mouse and trackball, using a hub, not using a hub and restarting and I trashed the NOLF.prefs file that is in the NOLF folder. I also tried using Kensington's mouseworks app to map keys with no results. I played Star Trek: Elite Force to test if the mouse worked there and no problem (although that's a Classic game).

I'm using OSX 10.2.6 and as far as I can remember I didn't make any significant changes in my system since the last time I played.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I had a similar problem with my Logitech dual optical and quake 3. It saw all buttons as the left click button.

Solution? Ditch the drivers it came with. This will allow all buttons to pass through the OS to the App as they should.

Worked for me! Plus, you'll have plenty of reason to want those buttons to pass through to the OS separately when Panther comes out...exposé works great when mapping extra mouse buttons to some of it's functions.

I can't move the drivers to trash. I changed the driver's owner to me from system but when I try I get a "can't be deleted" message. What's the trick?

In any case, I'm using the Mouseworks software to set up several other apps (which are working fine) and hesitate to throw it away. Same for the macally trackball. How exactly do you map the buttons without the manufacturer's drivers anyway?

In any case, why would it just stop working all of a sudden when it was fine before?

Thanks for the help!

I hve a similar problem with Stronghold - I'm using a Logitech MX700 wireless mouse, and I've tried both the in-built USB drivers that came wiith OSX, and then I tried Logitech's Control Centre drivers - and still no luck.

Apples One Button mentality is getting REALLLLLY old.

hmmm, I rearranged my USB peripherals to bypass the hub I was using, restarted and the problem went away.

I had another USB outage earlier this week on my PDA but I didn't connect it with the hub. Perhaps the hub is starting to go bad. It's been in continuous use since I got my B&W G3 so that's not out of the question.

But yes, it would be nice to not have the clunky obstacle of the manufacturer's interface for each input device.

Thank to all once again for help in keeping me up and running.
