Just a note that BloodRayne has just been updated to support multiple resolutions. Not sure how it runs because I downloaded the updater at work and left all of the disks at home.

Overall, the game was good for mindless violence, but the port was absolutely horrible. There was a good amount of tearing at 640 by 480 on a 1ghz G4. Glad to see developers are beginning to respond to our feedback.

Can anyone respond as to how this port was? Any improvements?

Followup post to the update. With the new resolutions, the menu graphics look fantastic. Not sure what the game play is because the game crashes before I can play it. Pretty much a complete waste of time.

Same here, which OS? Did you notice you can start it up without a CD now too? But if you play the game with CD1 in, the startup behavior is different.

Well, it's finally Friday so I guess now I can say it. Crashes under 10.3 Not sure if it is specific to this OS or if it blows up under Jaguar too.

Doesn't surprise me...Aspyr didn't test a whole bunch of games against the, what was then, almost released 10.3.

That surfing game (at least the demo) is really problematic under 10.3 (no textures).

Aspyr is crummy. I can't believe Brad is there now.

Aspyr Media Support Response

Howdy Donald,

First, we appreciate you thinking of us when you think about having games
developed for the Macintosh platform.

We continually evaluate games to be brought over to the platform, looking at
several factors including its popularity, whether the Macintosh market is
interested in the game, whether the company that owns the rights is
interested in having a Macintosh version, and how hard it would be to port
over (for example, if a game using the same software engine has already been
ported, it becomes much easier for us to have it done). Our customers are
one of the sources of determining interest, so we thank you for your mail.

If you have not done so, you can subscribe to our newsletter, which is sent
out via email on a monthly basis. This newsletter is where we announce new
projects. We also have a project status page at our web-site that shows
what is being worked on.

Regrettably, if a game is not shown on that page, or we have not made an
announcement about them, then we have no public comment as to whether we are
evaluating it or not.

Thank you again for your interest.
-Cory-

Looks like you got the wrong "canned" reply back.

Here's what I know. I asked Glenda about getting a Bloodrayne patch that works with Panther (I wanted to play it to see what all the fuss was about) and the last I heard, we were talking with the original developer to get a patch from them. I don't know if one is actually coming yet or not, but I do know that we're trying.

It's b/c the game sucked (at least the vast majority of ppl thought so) and even Glenda Adamas admitted to being embarrased that that game was chosen to port.

The game actually got decent reviews when it was first released, but subsequent ports didn't fare very well.
