Okay so I'm (obviously) not much of a gamer but I got AVP2 a month or so ago and have been plodding along to the Predator level. I'm still on the first 'training' mission -- mosting jumping from tree-to-tree -- but I cannot seem to jump from a certain tree to the ledge that leads to the next passage. This is the level where the training messages tells you that you can't be cloaked and in the water. I have been stuck there for like two days.

Aside from moving to the closest possible edge of the limb before jumping, is there something else I should be doing?

All my crouch/jumps seem to be almost totally vertical. Hitting my forward key gives me a little momentum but not much. Am I doing something wrong.

Any help -- particularly without adding to my shame -- would be appreciated.

I don't have AvP2. Still, the forward momentum might be the problem. Try a route that allows a running start before the actual jump?

Update: I figured it out.

I thought it was weird that while walking I could never activate any other functions -- including jump -- without first letting go of the forward key.

Then it occured to me that I reassigned the directional keys when I set up the game. I reset the keys to the default and now I can run and jump together...giving me the forward momentum I needed.
