Hmm, what are your specs? You in Panther? I was going to buy it soon and get started on it, too. Awh, man, don't make me change my mind.

I just got my copy on friday, just loaded it today, seems to work ok so far, I need to read the manual first. No crashes, but how do I quit once I'm in there? Command Q doesn't work.....

Also, perhaps we could start a MacNN group.... anybody interested?

I have been playing without sound since they released. You'll get annoyed with the inane attack music eventually They were originally using Miles library as the sound engine and recently switched to Quicktime. Brad Oliver was leading the programming but that has since been handed off to some unknown since he moved along. Feedback on the Sony boards is very limited. They are starting to improve but have a long way to go.

Command Q does camp you but only if you are sitting. Use Command S to sit. This was the first bug I submitted back in beta. That us mac users are used to our Command Q and would get confused if we couldn't use it. BTW, try not to use /quit. This is like pulling your network wire from the games perspective. You will still be in game for 30 seconds, so if you're in a fight you will probably come back to a corpse later on.

BTW, you might want to consider looking at two sites for support from Sony / other users:

www.eqmac.com (Fan based site. Many of us work together to attempt to resolve issues)
eqmac.station.sony.com (Click on forums, step through steps to tie your station account to the forum).

For basic starting out and info on quests etc. (Keep in mind the info is for PC side and they are two expansions ahead of us so some quests don't work for us) see:

www.allakhazam.com (General info covering quests, spells, monsters and zones)
www.eqtraders.com (Covers tradeskills)
www.eqatlas.com (Never leave home without it. Maps to almost every zone in game)
www.eqinterface.com (Don't like the basic interface. Change it and use one that you like)

That should about cover the basics. Feel free to drop by eqmac.com. Not my board but the people over there are nice for the most part and you might be able to hook up with some other people starting out. It's much more fun once you get a good group going.

I've had it for about about a month and am playing on my old TiBook 500Mhz | 10.2.8 | 512MB till my new 15" gets here (hopefully today).

I have game lock ups after over 3 hours of play on occasions.
The game sometimes hangs after hitting the "Play" button. Force quiting and restarting does the trick.
I'd say I get 1 lock every 5 hours on average. Sometimes never, sometimes within 30 mins.

It runs fine on my old TiBook even though it looks bad cause I don't have enough VRAM (8MB).
Currenly there is only 1 server Al'Kabor. Population is still reletively low but quite a few folks above 50th lvl. Finding groups isn't hard 'cause no matter what class you are, if there is a opening, you're in. I've only run into 1 bad apple in game, the many others are quite cordial and have good gaming spirit. It's a good port with good performance. Still a few stability issues to be worked out but that also applies to the PC version
If a group of mimes are miming a forest and one falls down, does he make a sound?

Feel free to ask any questions you have about gameplay either here or at Eqmac.com. I'll be more than happy to answer what ones I can. Honestly I have found the game to be highly enjoyable even with the bugs. If you are having lockups I would try killing the sound for a day to see if it helps out. I just play iTunes in the background to kill the silence. BTW this is a workaround to not being able to hit the finder while playing. Use "/mcicontrol open" to kick up an error window in the finder which effectively gives you access to the finder to look up information like maps, quest info etc. Be sure that you're in a safe location when you do this though. You may come back dead otherwise
