i enabled the framerate thing ut2k3, and i'm wondering which numbers i use, like if i'm running through a level and the framerates increase, dos that count?
i'm a beginner, i just got my first mac tower, i have other mac though, but i'm playing ut2k3 and loving it.

What do you mean by "does that count"? Count for what? The more fps the better and more smooth gameplay will be.

The numbers will change based on what is currently happening in the game... if there is not a whole lot going on for the processor and the video card to worry about you will get higher frame rates. If there is a LOT going on at a certain time in the game, it will tax the processor and video card, which will slow things down, which will in turn lower your frame rates.
It isn't one consistant number throughout the entire game, it is dynamic based on how hard your machine is working. The only time it would really stay consistent throughout would be if you had an absolutely amazing machine, with far more horsepower than the game requires.

As many have said the FPS count is dynamic, after all it's telling you the frames per second you are getting and time does go by. What you want to do is watch as your playing, and see if that FPS counter stays down under your preferable threshhold too much. Ie. if your personal preference is 40 FPS, and your mostly getting 20-30 FPS, then you want to make some changes to your playing options or make some hardware changes, or just accept the FPS your getting.
