I have a dual gig G4, with 512 megs of ram, and the lasted upgrade of Panther.

i just bought UT 2003 today, and its running like crap! Even on the lowest possible settings, the framerate is skipping. Any suggestions?

Look for and download the newest patch for UT, it helps improve everything dramatically

Thanks for the tip, but after installing the patch.. the performance is still poor. One thing I find very odd is that the mouse does not respond well at all during the game. In the menus the movement is jerky, and it is difficult to select things. The performance does not seem to change, no matter how low I make the settings. This is something i have not seen before.

thats pretty weird. I have a dual 867, and i was quite unhappy with the way UT 2K3 was playing before the patch/panther. But after, speeds are up to pretty fantastic rates. Though its still not as fast as the PC, the mac version is much more enjoyable now than it was when the game came out. My point, i guess, is that you have a faster computer than i do and you should be getting better framerates. Try to delete all files associated with the game, and reinstall with the install patch...

I took your advice, but no dice... could this be a ram problem?

What graphics card do you have?

It runs OK on my dual gig quicksilver with a GeForce 4Ti.
