i Just got my 15" about a week ago, heres the specs that ive run all these games on:

15"
Superdrive (without the superdrive, combo)
Backlit keyboard
1.25GHz
1GBRAM but only 512 installed!
Radeon 9600 64MB vid card
External Microsoft Intelli Trackball Explorer
External Pro Mac Keyboard
80GB 4200 HD

So! i Own all the games ive tested, and ive played on other mac's (G4 733 768ram, Dual 1.8G5 etc..)and all the games are tested on maximum detail and 1024x768 with 32bit clr First off, the game i tried first was of course Unreal, and the game runs PERFECT, there is NO slowdown at all, framerate is perfect! When large amounts of players enter the screen though.... Its still perfect! hah couldnt ask for more could ya? AOM was next on my list, and personally my favorite game. That game is simply the best stratedgy, and it runs like beautiful! Wc3 isnt as graphic intensive so of course that ran simply as best as it could. As far as SC4, thats another story. I have never played any Sim City games so i decided i would buy it and check it out. With details set on maximum its choppy, parts of the screen overlap, and generally unplayable. i don't know why this is ! however i know other people who have this same problem, and ive seen this game played on G5's and it has the same issues to a lesser extent, but still has the issues nevertheless! looks like bad implementation of grahpic engine.

This powerbook is the IDEAL gaming machine. remember i have only 512 installed, once i put this extra 512 in, it wont make a difference for the first 3 games, but SC4 might run more respectively. If anyone is looking for a mac to do their hardcore gaming, this is the one, let me tell you!

i think my sig has the URL to my new machine, check it out!

Try being a ladder player with War3 on ANY Mac.

It's simply impossible.

I can definitely agree with that on G4s and slower, but I would be extremely surprised if it were true on any of the G5s.

About SC4 - more system ram won't hurt, but what SC4 really gobbles up is video ram. It uses a lot of textures and doesn't do it very well.

Being a ladder player with at least 800mhz can easily be done in WC3. Yujin, you have something against WC3 on Macs. On the 800mhz Quicksilver 2001 G4, max settings the game only lags in custom games such as Tower Wars(I think that's what its called), where there are just hundreds and hundreds of units and animations, that even lags on a G5. I am not sure where both of you get off with WC3 being unplayable on G4s. Yea, being a good ladder play is way more intense, but the games require the same requirments as normal matches with non-expert WC3 players.

Playing ladder on War3 is impossible beacuse War3 is all about Micromanaging your units, simply known as Micro.

Micro is kind of hard to explain but it is like when you use each unit and well, manage each unit to their fullest. In battles, Micro is simply impossible on any Mac due to how crappiness it runs.

And Vash, your right, I do have something against War3 on the Mac. I've been playing well over an year on a Mac and absolutely abhor it. I played around 3 months with a Powerbook G4 too and it was horrid too.

My mind gets confused since I love playing War3 but I hate playing it on a Mac.

A while ago (like a year and a few months ago), my 4v4 ladder team was #46 on the Azeroth ladder... with me on a 700MHz G4 iMac

Of course, that machine boots OS 9, and WC3 would FLY on all your new machines if they could run OS 9.
But alas
Be happy.

Hope that runs well too!

Just out of curiosity... anyone know if Halo will support Widescreen res?

I don't know what you are talking about, I'm a ladder player for TFT and I've been playing on a 1.25GHz AL, with 512. I'm not gosu, but there's no lag on my end. The funny thing is, is that i use wireless net access too, whether i'm at home or at starbucks with my tmobile hotspot access. No lag... EVER.

Speak for yourself. My dual 1.42 ghz runs the game perfectly....and this is coming from a recent P4 2.4ghz owner.
