It should work over the LAN... I've done many Mac/PC LAN parties where WC3 was played.
Be happy.

Macs and PCs can easily play Warcraft 3 over LAN. Make sure you both have the same patch and have the LAN set up correctly. Should work just fine.

We both have 1.12 but I think it could be one of two things:

1: we share the discs (as they work on both) could it be that because we have the same cd key they won't work?

2: we blatantly haven't set up our connection properly (more likely!)

1. Might be a problem.

1. No, unless they changed something recently you can use the same CD Key on LANs. Blizzard doesn't want to put their CD Key Authentication stuff on a client-side executable!

2. The only thing that matters is your IP must match (well, let's not get too technical on this) for the first 3 sets of numbers. The common way to do it is 192.168.2.X where X is a unique # for each computer. Then set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and the router/gateway to 192.168.2.1.

Windows Networking:
Start -> Control Panels -> Networking -> Local Area Connection -> Properties -> TCP/IP
Mac Networking:
System Preferences -> Networking -> Ethernet (wow.)

if you have any other questions lemme know. also, this will definitely mess up your internet connection so it'd be best to create a seperate location (assuming the game machines are on the net). if you give more details about your net connection I can help you set it up so you can be on the net and LAN at the same time.
