Hi,

I am using an older Apple OEM nVidia GeForce 3 card in a dual 1Ghz PowerMac, and as time has passed by and games have begun to catch up to implementing certain features of yesterday's video cards I have somehow forgotten exactly what features are supported by this card.

Needless to say, my question is simple. I am under the impression that Halo, just now relased for the Mac, is the first Macintosh game that supports vertex and pixel shaders. I'd like to be able to view the graphics in Halo--even for just a short while--on their highest setting; although, I understand playability with every switch turned on will more than likely be an issue. I'm wondering if my current graphics card is able to utilize this feature, or whether it's time to upgrade the video card on my machine.

Thanks,

Neo.cmg

Many of the graphics features require a DirectX9 card...a Radeon 9800 or GeForceFX, I believe.

The 8500 I have in my PC, roughly comparable to your card, supported some but not all of the features.

With my DP533 and GF3 I only get the option of vertex shaders, vertex+pixel shaders is greyed out.

Still looks quite good and is playable even on my machine. Not sure if it used the DPs, I would doubt it...
