With Halo getting mixed reviews, I was wondering if anyone was playing Star Trek Elite Force 2? I saw this at the Apple Store and it looked semi-appealing, although I never played the first one.

How is performance/gameplay? I'm guessing it would have to be better than Halo, right?

I got it and love it. They only problem with game play I have is the loading of missions can sometimes be extremly long (note, a mission includes many side missions and other levels in it, so it doesn't happen that often). Other then that it is a fun addicting game, the only thing that pulled me away from it was Halo.
I think you would enjoy it

I have it also and it is a nice game IMHO. With the visuals ccranked all the way up it does look nice if not a little blocky as far as the environments go. The character models are top notch and pretty smooth. Patrick Stewart's voice along with voice of the guy that plays Tuvok are both used. On my dual 2.0 w/ Radeon 9800 I can play the single player mode with resonable fps with everything on (execpt stencil shadows which are brutal on performance) at the full rez of 1680x1050 of my 20" CD but it not easy on the hardware. I played about half way through it until Halo came out and distracted me but I will finish it. If you ever wanted to fight inside of (or outside of for that matter) the latest Enterprise (is it up to version E?) as a Star Trek fan this is your chance The multiplayer can't compare to a Halo or UT2003 although it can be fun in bot matches being able to play as Picard and hearing him grunt in the real voice when he dies

To sum up: if you like online muliplayer FPS's it may not be that great for you as far as replay value goes. If you love Star Trek it may be worth it just for that. If you like a decent, if not spectacular, single player game it is OK.

I got it, but was a little unimpressed. I found the story and plot to be a little on the dull side. IMHO it was just another in a long sequence of "kill hordes of grunts, one boss, repeat" shooters.

Halo was a lot more satisfying.

I am a huge Trekkie. Bought the game. Graphics are good. Decent frame rate on my set up. Game play was... boring. Kill things, look for switches to shoot to open doors, kill more things, kill boss.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I might try EF2 before Halo, since I think it will be more forgiving of my system (dual 1G/GeForceTi), and while I love a good FPS, I'm not exactly what you'd call 'hardcore.'

Looks like my self-indulgences this holiday will be Elite Force and then Jedi Academy. I'll wait on Halo.
