You should be able to run anything, with the except that Halo, UT2k3 and the upcoming 2k4 will have to go on the lowest settings.

Insidemacgames.com should give you a good idea of whats around.

WCIII will probably run fine if you tone the settings down a bit. (say, 800x600, medium/low quality graphics).

For some reason the mac version of WCIII doesn't seem to be using the potential it could.

Let's see.. AoM is great too, Halo for Mac is out now, Neverwinter Nights... NOLF 2...

And there's always SNES9X and MacMAME.

Needless to say, your iBook (and the rest of our Macs) aren't going to be the envy of every other gamer out there, but if you can live with having the best of PC's games ported over to mac in a reasonable amount of time -- the kind of games that last -- you'll be set. I survived for years like that, until I became a CS nut.

quake III patched is fun, and should run very well on that rig.

Why don't you at least get the demo of UT03 and see how it goes...

both have been patched to run on OS X, the demos may not be, which would mean the quake 3 unpatched is 9 only, and the ut is considerably slower unpatched....

take a look at

www.macgamer.com/

www.insidemacgames.com/

good luck

Play War3 if you are the softcore gamer...as in you won't really be playing serious like paying attention to micro and stuff because it is impossible to do that with a Mac.

Ghost Recon is fun and it runs well (at low settings, mind you) even on my dual 450 with a Radeon (not the faster Radeon 9200 that the iBook has).

Don't get Halo. It's an awful port. People with dual 2 GHz G5s are even saying it's slow.

UT 2003 runs surprisingly well on my machine, and it's butter-smooth on my brother's 867 MHz PowerMac G4 with Radeon 9000 Pro. Sure, that's a much faster system than your iBook, but it should be playable at low or medium settings.

WarCraft 3 has pretty bad performance when you think about how simple the game's graphics are. Sure, there are lots of pretty effects, but nothing THAT intensive, and it still runs slower than UT 2003 as far as I can tell.

There are many others, it just depends on what you like. There's UT 2003, Return To Castle Wolfenstein, Medal Of Honor, Jedi Knight II, Ghost Recon, Warcraft 3, Max Payne, Age Of Mythology, and quite a few more. Basically, most of the "big name" games get ported to Mac, with most of the crappy ones not making it.

one thing you will learn about these boards is that everytime someone mentions war III, yujin can't resist the urge to post a negative comment about it.... it seems like an obsession (relax Yujin, that wasn't a shot!

I play War III often, with no problems at all.
