Tonight I installed Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne onto my new G5 DP1.8, Radeon 9800 Pro, OS X 10.3.2, 1.5GB RAM. I went to play some Battle.net games, and twice in a row it froze about 10 seconds into the game. Hard freeze! With the music still playing... but no keyboard or mouse input.

This is quite unfortunate; is this a known issue? Anyone have any ideas? Could the new ATI drivers in 10.3.2 have caused it? I didn't run Warcraft until after I updated everything, so I don't know if it happened in 10.3.0.

Thanks for any help!
Be happy.

This always happens to me but not after 10 seconds though. Doesn't seem to freeze in OS 9 mode.

Let's get to the main problem though: why play War3 on a Mac? Everybody knows it runs sh!tty on a Mac.

I'm judging from the content of that post and your sig that you are decidedly anti-Mac. "Why play on Mac" is completely irrelevant in relation to my question. Guess what? I DON'T play WC3 on my Mac. I play it on my PC (3GHz P4, Radeon 9700 Pro). However, when I have friends around who want to play WC3, it would be nice to be able to play on Bnet together, no? And from what I've tested so far, WC3 runs just fine on my G5. Not as well as on my PC... though it loads faster.

But I thank you for your remarkably helpful and useful reply

Once again, I've said it in the past and I'll say it again now.

I'm not anti-Mac. The quote in my sig is just relevant with the introduction of the iPod mini.

I just feel that playing War3 on any mac is bad for you due to how craptastic it runs making it impossible to have any micro, which War3 is mostly about.

You will soon learn that as soon as W3 is mentioned, Yujin can't resist taking a dig at it... you could set your watch by it!

p.s. W3 runs flawlessy on my Mac. Hope you figure out your situation with it.
