Oh, God, I hate these things. At first I thought you were talking about games like the original Zork, Angband, or NetHack which are great.

For the love of God, don't click on the above links and give jckalen more armies/undead legions/hordes of yellow-green muskrats that will ravage the countryside!

I'll have to try this "NetHack" of yours.

But I have to say, NationStates is one of the worst games I have ever played.

Nethack is fun and all that, but I find its more fun with additional eye-candy (I forget the graphics library you can use on top of NetHack -- was it Falcon something?).
