Hi

I'm not 100% sure if this is a hardware problem or not but I get sound problems when playing Diablo II (after about 5 minutes or troublefree gaming).

Basically, the right speaker (system is an iBook G4 12" / 640MB / OSX 10.3.1) makes an annoying noise like static is coming from it. The left speaker seems fine, just the right speaker makes an awful static noise.

If I don't play Diablo II (after a restart to get rid of the noise) things are fine...sound is normal.

Has anyone else had any funny sound experiences with an iBook G4 ? I can't really send this in for a fix as, under normal "non Diablo 2" operation, it all works fine. Just something with that game is causing my system to develop a sound problem.

This is my first Mac (switched !!!) and have only had it for 3 weeks (my first iBook died 2 days after buying it so this is a replacement). So, please keep answers (if anyone has any) reasonably straight forward.

Thanks all and Happy New Year from Auckland, N.Z. !!!!!

That's a rather obscure issue. Try installing 10.3.2. Maybe turn the Diablo music volume down all the way then play for a bit to see if the problem arises. Then turn the sound effects down and see if it happens after playing then quitting.

Updated to 10.3.2 and played D2 for a while. Touch wood....the problem seems to have disappeared.

Cheers
