I've been running Halo on my 1ghz eMac with a Radeon 7500 graphics card, and while for the most part the game runs beautifully, there's one thing that keeps pissing me off. Whenever I pick up a health pack, or am shot by a needler or the beam weapon used by the Sentinels, my screen goes black. I suspect it's an issue with screen-tinting; but the game works fine when it tints due to other events (like getting shot by a plasma pistol/rifle) so I'm at a loss to explain it.

I have upgraded my system to OS 10.3.2, so hopefully it's not an issue with my OS. Any help would be appreciated.

I note this same problem on my TiBook. I suspect that these two situations invoke a specific effect such as an alpha channel call. The card is not equipped to handle this effect so it simply blanks out.

My suggestion? Never get hit with the Needler and avoid getting yourself into a situation where you need to pick up a health pack!

Hehehe.

Try turning off FSAA if you have it turned on. That's the only thing that's caused that behavior for me on my radeon 8500.
