Wow, they're pumping them out now I have a question if Rob is lurking somewhere nearby.

#Replays are incompatible between major game revisions (1.13 replays cannot be viewed with the 1.14 version of Warcraft III).
---
Why can't you just have a small file that loads the different balance changes for the patch that the replay was recorded from?
Also, what qualifies as a non-major revision if every revision fails to work with the previous? What's the point in saying major revision? Just a nitpick on that one.

hiya.

The properties of the game code that enable us to make replay files as compact as they are, work against us when it comes time to try and play back an old version. The real killer is that more than just values in data tables change from one patch to the next - there will be code changes at any number of places in the game logic itself to fix bugs or improve behavior. The new code therefore might arrive at different outcomes when fed the original series of actions in the replay. It's a really hard problem becauuse no one would like the size of replay files if we made them upward-compatible / bulletproof..

Your best bet is to peel off a copy of the game folder and label it "v1.13" and keep any 1.13 replays that you enjoy, in that folder.

I hope you don't use tab to switch between subgroups!

At least AMS is cost effective now; but I can't tab between the necs and banshees! AAAAHHH!

They play pretty balanced to me. Especially when you go DK/Lich/CL or DL.
