I bought a Radeon 9600 not too long ago from a G5 owner after I saw that article. The performance is definately better. Here are the differences in Halo:

Radeon 9000:


866MHz, 1024MB
Frames=4700
Total Time=269.23s
Average frame rate=17.46fps
Below 5fps= 6% (time) 0% (frames) (16.277s spent in 17 frames)
Below 10fps= 17% (time) 6% (frames)
Below 15fps= 44% (time) 26% (frames)
Below 20fps= 74% (time) 55% (frames)
Below 25fps= 83% (time) 67% (frames)
Below 30fps= 91% (time) 79% (frames)

The game looks absolutely amazing with both shaders on...but it doesnt run so great (im sure faster G4/5 systems do a better job). I wasnt really expecting it to, anyway. Unreal Tournament is acting funny and won't launch (even after using the updated installer), so I have to mess around with that. My whole point is that Radeon 9000 owners should really think about switching to the 9600 since both can be bought/sold at the same price on ebay.
