Hi,
I'm still stuck myself.
I bought a USB adaptor to use on my Xbox controller from PlayAsia.com, they provide a nice Installer for the driver here:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...ontroller.html
Look down the page a bit till you get to:
XBox HID Driver for Mac OS X (v1.0 - May 18, 2003)
I installed this, but I tried it on Halo and it wouldn't recognize the controller.
Thanks,
Oliver

Yeah I saw that, but it doesnt mention anything about Halo, and thats my only reason for getting an adapter.

Halo doesn't currently have native support for gamepads. You would need some software to simulate the keys on your gamepad. IMO, you'd be better off sticking with mouse and keyboard. It's much more precise, allows for much quicker turning and access to many more keys.

Yeah, given a choice, why would you want to use a game pad to play a FPS?

1) Dual analog thumbsticks with two position buttons built in, dual analog triggers, six buttons... dunno why.
2) Hard to kick back in a recliner and mouse 'n' keyboard!
3) Spilled beer and game pad = grab spare game pad. Spilled beer and keyboard = exercise in colorful language.
Given a choice, why wouldn't you use a game pad?

Because they still suck for FPS games? Like dual analog triggers would make much of a difference in Halo... Keyboard has how many buttons to choose from vs, what 6 buttons on the gamepad?

Yeah, and all difficult to reach. Because it first came out for the XBox, Halo was designed to work well with the XBox controller. As a result, all the functions of the buttons are very logical and easy on the game pad, whereas it requires quite a few keys that may be hard to reach on a keyboard. Plus if you have the muscle memory from playing Halo a bunch on the XBox, you'd rather keep playing with the pad than with a mouse and keyboard.

I wouldn't consider them hard to reach, particularly those who use multibutton mice. I can handle all attacks via my mouse (fire, grenade, melee attack) and I use up mousewheel to switch between my weapons and down to switch my grenades. I else have the Use button on my mouse. Everything else works fine via the keyboard.
Since Halo is a FPS game, my muscle memory for FPS games on my computer are tuned for the much superior keyboard and mouse combination.
Anyway, Halo is suppose to have a patch which will include gamepad support. When? I don't know. Could be before or after the demo is released.

Not that I prefer one over the other, but I've noticed that when I play Halo on a keyboard, my wrists start to hurt and I slouch n stuff, I prefer a gamepad because I dont have to worry about hurting my wrists and I could relax and laydown while having complete control, and like a previous post mentioned, I played Halo the very first day it came out (on x-box) and Im very comfortable and very good with a gamepad in my hands. Too bad they Halo for mac doesnt have support for a gamepad yet.
