I'm looking for a good game I can take my time at, as posted in the subject. I've tried the CM 03/04 demo, but I don't know soccer well enough to understand some of the terminology. I might give SimCity or Civ III a shot, but I'm looking to get opinions.

Any help for a recent switcher?

You must have those games in your shelf:

Warcraft III
Age of Mythology

Both of them are very high quality games.

Forget SimCity.

Hearts on Iron is pretty fun cross between realtime strategy and turn based.

CM4 takes a bit to get the hang of but eventually its very fun.

Those cows won't know what hit 'em. They won't know what hit them even after it hits them, because they're cows.

Most of the 'Age of...' series is fun. And the Star Wars take off, Galactic Battlegrounds in entertaining too.

Master of Orion II is, IMO, the best turn-based strategy out there. But Master of Orion III SUCKS! Avoid it!
Be happy.

I enjoyed MOO3 much more than 2. Nicer graphics and deeper gameplay. Not to say that I actually enjoyed MOO that much though...

Best strategy game I've tried lately is Age of Mythology. Granted I have yet to try Warcraft 3.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

I appreciate all the suggestions. Anyone ever play Tropico? I see the Mucho Macho version scored very well on IMG.com. Anyone play it?

Civ III is an amazing game. Buy it.

Hearts of Iron is, IMHO, excellent, but EXTREMELY difficult to learn and fairly imitimidating to all but hardcore gamers, since the documentation sucks so badly.

I own Tropico. It's a great idea, but the OS X version is painfully slow, especially as your island starts to grow.

For a fun, cheap turn-based RPG, consider Fallout and Fallout 2. I think they're like $20 apiece, and they are sometimes on sale for as little as $5.

For a more real-time RPG, look no further than Dungeon Siege, which is an awesome game I just bought. It's really fun.
