This post is out of bitter resentment for being an ignored market by Blizzard who wastes their talent on stupid crap like WarCraft III.
Share your sentiment by choosing an option below:
Sentiment 1) I demand Blizzard make Diablo III or I will poop my pants immediately
Sentiment 2) Blizzard should make WarCraft 4 and I'm a stupid idiot

Sentiment 3) I demand Blizzard make an original game and not cancel it.
I say this after being bitter over the cancellation of Warcraft Adventures back in early 1998. Oh, and the horrible change Blizzard made to turn Warcraft 3 from a potentially groundbreaking genre twister to a shrunk down version of Warcraft II in 3D.
Oh, and of course now thet have the bandwagon MMORPG in the works, and a 3rd party doing Starcraft:Ghost, a *gasp* stealth shooter. Gee, haven't seen enough of those mixed in between all the World War 2 titles.
I don't see Blizzard ever returning to their old glory days. Their publisher is just interested in using the name to sell crap in a box to tons of people who blindly buy it. Key figures have already left Blizzard toget back to original development. Bill Roper is one, and for more, I'll just quote a news story:
In another press release put on the wire late yesterday, Blizzard let it be known that co-founders Erich Schaefer, Max Schaefer and David Brevik had left the company, along with well-known PR-man Bill Roper. Roper talked quickly with GameSpot after the announcement, and made it clear the decision was due at least in some part to Vivendi, the entertainment conglomorate owner of Blizzard:
Asked what role Vivendi Universal's corporate management had to play in the decision, Roper admitted that was a big part of it: "We wanted to have a level of involvement [in deciding the studio's direction] that was not going to be made available. For the interests of the people that we work with, we should have been able to talk to the people that make the decisions and that knew what was going on."

Calling Warcraft III a stupid crap game is taking it a little too far
Warcraft and Starcraft: Ghost development have nothing to do with Diablo's development. Blizzard West is responsible for Warcraft/Starcraft series, Nihilistic Software, Inc. is responsible for Starcraft: Ghost and Blizzard North is responisble for Diablo series. Hope it's clear to you now.
Blizzard North have been brewing something for pretty long time. No idea what game(s) they're working on. Diablo III would be really nice. I guess they'll announce their newest game(s) at upcoming E3 expo this May.

I think you covered all that in a previous post... I understand there are technicalities to who is responsible - but my negative feelings torwards WarCraft III are not all based on the fact that the Diablo series has been neglected. I was a StarCraft/WarCraft addict supreme.. but then they moved away from the 2D/tile based graphics into the 3d realm and ignored StarCraft altogether- I know everyone has their own feelings, but I think it was a bad move.
Since being so hardcore into WarCraft II I feel justified in my feelings. Warcraft III is inferior... i.e. stupid peice of crap. So is StarCraft : Ghost.
Anyway, they have a huge market that is relatively untouched and it seems ignorant what they are developing. There old games were so much better.
If Diablo III comes out and it is 3d I am going to punch myself in the nutts until I am a girl and don't care anymore.

There's 90% chance that Diablo III will be in full 3D. Blizzard North started hiring lot of 3D developers few years ago. At ending of Warcraft III, it hinted that we will see Starcraft II in 3D sometime in the future.
I can understand that you still prefer 2D 1/2 but sticking with 2D 1/2 would be a bad move for Blizzard in current market

It is true that 2D is not necessarily better than 3D. It is also true that Blizzard could probably produce a jaw-dropped 3D Diablo 3.
Also, a little birdy told me that the WoW alpha is a very pretty game.

Yeah, a 2.5D would not appeal to the masses in this day and age with Radeon 9800s abundant and whatnot. Only the hardcore fans would go for the game if it is still in 2.5D.
And about War3..I would say it was pretty meh. The Heroes were a good thing and a bad thing. It was innovative but battles were way too dependent on whoever has the better hero(es). Taking away the sea counterpart was a bad move, I would have loved to see the sea battles in 3D.
The whole ladder online system is pretty cool too but it just isn't as addicting as it was in SC. I'm not sure what it is but things in War3 are just more stressful with leveling up and stuff. SC was just so much more fun back then esp. since there was like no loading times.

True, I agree with you on that. Warcraft III is a fun game but not as fun as Starcraft.
I really missed the sea counterpart, especially oil gathering because it added so much to the game.

Have you guys seen Dungeon Siege? It's an absolutely gorgeous RTS game very much like the Diablo series, but it's all in 3D. Amazing graphics, real 3D environment, and good controls. I really enjoyed it.

There's just something about 2d man..
maybe I played too much super nintendo, I don't know. I have nothing against 3d by any means, I just hope that the Diablo III graphics don't wind up like WarCraft III.. the stupid lego looking horses really make it hard for me to get hyped at orc thrashing
Anyone here play armored core? where's the battle net version of that???
Need to make a Diablo type (quest/level based RPG) but in an Armored Core environment with big freaking robots, net play and everything... that'd be sick

OMG! I almost shot my computer after playing that POS for a couple of days. Only by using sheer force of will did eject the CDs and shot them with a handgun on close range to prevent others from suffering like I did. The single worst 'RPG' ever.
Stupid stupid stupid plot, 0% game depth, the most interesting player character is the Pack Mule and INCREDIBLY boring monsters. Oh DEAR LORD!! If I even think about the Krug I almost instantly fa... ZZzzzzz
Two words on this game: Dungeon Shit [/SpinalTap]

Oh c'mon, DS wasn't THAT bad. It got too repetitive (I couldn't finish it) but it was fun before that happened
And when it came out (PC release), I couldn't believe how gorgeous it was. It still looks good.

My friend and I played Diablo II for about two weeks straight several years ago. We managed to beat the game from start to finish on the hardest mode. It took a lot of work but it ended up being quite fun. After that i never really got into Diablo II much ever again. When LoD came out I wasn't interested in the slightest in picking it up. I did however waste $50 on WarCraft III. WarCraft II gave me so many freaking hours of extraordinarily fun gameplay I couldn't help but be enticed by the propect of a 3D rendition of the franchise.
The idea of a third Diablo after the wreckage of WC3 makes me almost shudder. In the days of Diablo and WC2 Blizzard was one hell of a game company. Their games are technically appealing but the overal direction of their games is getting a bit absurd. WC3 is StarCraft in a fantasy setting with 3D graphics. The Heroes are just watered down versions of Total Annihilation's commanders. The 3D graphics were nice looking but not functional enough to be worth the extra overhead. They also removed one of the best aspects of WC2, the naval units. WC3 didn't bring anything new to the genre like WarCraft II did which I think is a failure on Blizzard's part.
I would want either a 2.5D Diablo III as to not melt my Powerbook during online play or make better use of a 3D environment than WC3 did. WC3's Z-axis motion is far too limiting and makes the 3D aspect of the game almost useless. The FoW keeps me from seeing beyond the visual range of my units, there's no reason to keep me from rotating my view to see my own unit behind a tree or to better position said unit. A 3D Diablo could be a lot of fun, moreso than Dungeon Seige and better looking to boot. With Blizzard's current management however that doesn't seem too likely.

Hmm... I'm torn. I'm a huge Blizzard fan, drooling over the original Diablo for more than a year on my friends PC before I could play it on my Mac. Same thing for Starcraft. Warcraft II was my game for more than 2 years straight.
Then comes Diablo II. I played it but not nearly as much as D1. I bought LoD hoping to make me want to play again, it didn't.
Warcraft III looks amazing. I love the crayon 3D graphics and can't freaking wait to see this same awesome style applied in WoW. However, WC3 has some huge balance issues which makes playing on the ladder very frustrating. Frankly, I'm done with the ladder. I've got my icons, yada yada, but when you get stuck with people who can't micro for whatever reason, it's just no fun.
Now, the other aspect of WC3 is the custom games. There are a lot of excellent 3rd party maps out there that make great use of the hero aspect of the game. If you haven't tried Tides of Blood (ToB) or DotA give it a shot before you write off WC3. Thanks to the amazing talents of 3rd party map makers, WC3 really shows off why the heros are fun to play.
BTW -- I played way too much SNES back in the day and still dream 2D hand drawn art all the time Capcom, SNK, and Nintendo rule! Hence why I love my GBA

Frankly, Frozen Throne is pretty balanced right now. There needs to be a few tweaks, sure; but there are no glaring issues like 3 months ago. Sure there are some things that are harder to counter than others, but this does not mean imbalance. The frustrating thing is when people always do the same thing.
I also assume by the last sentence you play a lot of Random Team games. Of course there is much luck involved and more imbalance. How could you ever balance a 4 on 4? And there will always be the guy who runs his sorceresses under some Faerie Dragons.

Yeah, I guess the problem is people doing the same things. Someone techs to air and my team decides that hunts and grunts are the best counter... wtf?! Random Team games (ladder games) are very frustrating for this reason, yes.
Anyway, like I said. It's almost pointless to play RT anymore unless you enjoy the whole random aspect which frankly I've grown tired of. After 400+ games I just can't seem to understand why I still bother. I must STOP

I know what you mean. I played yesterday. The other team went riflemen, archers, and fiends. I scouted and told my teammates this, and said stop making Hippo Riders. They didn't. We won, only because of my linked and lusted Tauren. Stuff like that just bugs me though. In RT you get a lot of people that don't know the game well. You know, the people who see that the other team goes all air, we need to get all air to counter them.
