This is to hopefully provide one place to vocalize, and perhaps solve, problems with the beta. I am unaware of anyway to make them known directly to macsoft as the beta is "unsupported", but even without supporting it, there is no way to leave feedback -- even knowing you won't get a response.

I hope we can avoid rants re: piracy, politics, and qualitative judgements here, and just provide a place to list TECHNICAL issues ((just in case someone in the know is listening/reading)) and, perhaps to help those with things that are within our power to solve for each other...

And, other tech questions are being asked (i'm guilty here) in the performance tweaks thread...so just to keep it all straight, maybe this would help???

Trust I understand that some, if not all of these may be fixable already, or fixed in the coming retail version....and this isn't a place to show anger, it is a BETA, it is a DEMO for which I am GRATEFUL TO HAVE.

Hope this makes sense/is sensible.

((ok, the exception to the rule....one judgemental type thing...I love it...))

1) I am constantly getting kicked out of games by a message that:

"the master server has determined that your cd-key is already in use" and get booted out of the match. Further, it directs me to Atari Technical support, not MacSoft to report this issue problem...and we can't report anything to MacSoft yet (see above).

2) Since about the time the PC version went retail I've had a tougher time logging into servers where the count shows there is space, they aren't locked, and after rejection still shows space after a refresh.

3) I have been unsuccessful re-mapping the R key away from "Team Say". The game allows me to change the mapping, but when I return to play it still has the same linkage...

I am not sure what's going on here. Do you have the demo, or some sort of leaked beta?

Either way, it makes sense that you have trouble connecting to servers, especially since the retail version is out on the PC side.

The demo is a "beta"....thus, there is no support...

I was frustrated in the connection error and such and no way to report them...just hoping to have a place to list issues in hopes that people that matter may be reading.

if there is a "bugzilla" for the game where we can report that would be more direct, but as it is, there is no direct way to communicate with MacSoft regarding the demo/beta, nor do they list an error reporting mechanism...

As far as I'm aware from reading here and at macgamer, there are already 2 problems I'm aware of that are fixed in the upcoming retail release, the error where you just straffe right constantly, and the sound error/bug....there are probably others....I'm a little new to the gaming party so theres alot I don't know, and I'm just a layperson...no connections whatsoever.

I hate to rain on your parade but the final Mac version of UT2k4 is off in duplication so this whole discussion is moot.

Thanks, didn't see any links to it when went to their "support" page.

I feel better. Stupid (or blind...is what mom said true???). But better.

As far as it being off in master, doesn't mean diddley... there will be patches...no doubt, so no rain. How many things are ever released in their final form, I really can't think of one, ...so, no rain on this parade, just redirection of effort to nail the bugs down faster....and hopefully everyone who plays will also participate/give feedback in the proper forum...

Thanks for the direction a2daj

I actually visit Ryan's site fairly frequently so I've known about the bugzilla setup since the UT2K3 demo. IMG also mentioned it when it quoted from his .plan a day or two after the UT2K4 demo was released. Both were easy references to miss. I was listening to Ryan's interview on the Gamesome Mac last night ( http://www.macradio.com/monday/ ) and he mentioned he wants to do one last patch for the demo among other things, but I guess we can't expect it any time soon.
