I'm running the latest version of Carbon Broodwar on 10.3.2 (iBook 466/320/10.3.2), and in order to view its cinematics (like the intro, for example), I have to view the scene once and then view it again. The first run through lags significantly, but the subsequent view runs as expected. Additionally, I've properly reniced Starcraft to -18. It seems as if the first time around the data is being cached. But what is puzzling to me is the fact that OS 9 could run the cinematics without any lag whatsoever. It runs properly on my iBook in OS 9, and it ran fine on my 8600. I do realize, of course, that OS 9 allows the processor to be monopolized by any given application. Yet, using renice should settle that issue. In fact, I put Starcraft in window mode and pulled top up - Starcraft was using 105% of the processor. OS X has far superior resource management, yet cutscenes lag horribly unless they're viewed twice. Is something wrong with my iBook (other than it being comparatively slow), or is this a Carbon Broodwar oversight?
