I also posted this in the Software forum. Is there an app that can read .pak files from games like RTCW, Quake 3 and Jedi Academy and extract the music from those files?

I found PakRat but it hasn't been updated in years and is super buggy and can't extract music files.

Thanks.

IIRC .pak files are uncompressed ZIP archives. If you make a copy, change its extension to zip, and open it with Stuffit then you should be able to see inside.

Yes the quake 3 engine .pk3 files are nothing but zip files. This is not true with Quake I or II engine games. The Windows platform has something called PakExplorer to read Quake I and II engine pak files. I bet someone made a similar program for the mac somewhere.
