It seems, although Mac UT2004 is compatible with PC UT 2004 for online matches, that MacSoft has not included voice support in their port. Is that accurate? If so, I'm a bit surprised as even TeamSpeak is working on a Mac client for their in-game voice package.

Voice is used in 3 ways in UT2k4:

1. Text-to-speech so you can hear text chats. Works on PC AND Mac. (Not the Mac demo though.) On Mac, your OS X Default Voice is used. Vicki is the most human-sounding. Victoria, Bruce and Agnes are runners-up. (Too bad it doesn't use a voice to match the player model!)

2. Voice chat between players. Works on PC AND Mac. (But causes crashes sometimes when you hit F? Patch needed? And there was an iSight bug I think that has crept back but can be fixed in the next patch--I don't have iSight to confirm.)

3. Voice command of AI bots. PC only. But OS X has this functionality built in, so supposedly this is coming to Mac via a patch! Does anyone have a link confirming this?

I have a USB headset and when I hit F the game freezes. So currently I have no in-game chat method. Especially since Ventrilo, Teamspeak and Roger Wilco have no mac clients available. I get to type my chat. fun fun.
