Allrighty, had some time on my hands and decided to do some benchmarking.
My system:
MDD 867 Dual Processor
Radeon 8500
1.25 GB Ram
LOW quality means all settings set to lowest possible value and 16-bit color
MED qualtiy means all settings set to "NORMAL" and 32 bit color. All of the on/off quality settings, such as decals, dynamic lighting, etc. were set to OFF.
MAX quality means all eye candy maxed out.
Sound was ON for all these tests.
I disabled any kind of FSAA on my vid card for this
Just ordered me a Radeon 9800 and 512MB more RAM, should arrive in a week or two, I plan to run my tests again
My Results

The dm-rankin map.
Adapted the following from a linux script:
put this script 'benchmark.sh' in my Unreal Tournament 2004.app/Benchmark folder:
#!/bin/sh
../System/ut2004-bin dm-rankin?spectatoronly=1?numbots=2?quickstart=1?attr actcam=1 -benchmark -seconds=77 -ini=ut2004.ini -exec=../Benchmark/Stuff/botmatchexec.txt
then placed this file "botmatchexec.txt", in the benchmark/stuff folder:
showhud
ship
Then executed the script 'benchmark.sh' from the terminal.
Results appear in my ~home/library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2004/Benchmark/Results folder
That didn't seem complicated did it?
did up the pretty bar graphs in excel
You can probably find simpler instructions somewhere.

Dual 2ghz G5 Proccesor Radeon 9800 Pro 4gb RAM
1600x1024 everything maxed out:
Min 42.7fps Avg 93.7fps Max 199.5fps
Sweet FPS
btw, you picked a rather un-detailed level with very small areas, an Onslaught level would be much more stressful.

Ok, I'm almost there....
I right-clicked on UT 2004 and selected "show package contents".
Another finder window opens with the contents. Switch view to columns.
Created files you specified w/ Tex-Edit-Plus (Tom Bender's), pasting in the text, and saving with names you've given...(they have the right extension, but have a Tex-Edit-Plus icon...don't know if this may be holding things up?. I believe I chose ASCII file format...)
Then, I opened the terminal, type "cd " (noted the space) then drag the "benchmark" folder to the terminal window to chande directories. The prompt changed to reflect my new location. Then, I'm stuck...what do I do to launch the script????
I tried typing run and the file name, then exec and the file name, neither worked.
What App should I have created the file with? How do I launch it. thanks
