never much cared for them. You need a stable platform to attach them to (and to immobolize them, you want to be able to make a hard left turn without the base of the steering wheel moving at all). Trying to use a steering wheel on your lap just does not work.
I suggest just buying a real ferrari

I like racing games(like shooters and adventures more though). I've never used a wheel but from what I hear the logitech ones are the best. maybe you could find a reviews site.

A simple control pad does the job just fine for me... I mean, you just hold left for ever and ever, right?

i bought 2 steering wheels in my life, one for pc one for N 64, never liked them, you know, it's the problem with hard turns, impossible to do it, and the feeling just plain sucks! stick to gamepads way better choice

I used a logitech sterring wheel for my 750 P-III Sager laptop. It made all the difference in the world. Playing Midtown Madness way back then was a real trip. When I used the brake pedal while about to corner downhill I could actually feel myself slowing down; really, I kid you not; very weird feeling. Now that I have a Mac those days are gone, but I do hear great things about the Momo racing wheel with force feedback, just like the logitech one I had. It is listed on Apples website by the way. Midtown was one of the greatest driving games I ever played. The stop lights worked, the graphics were great, the cops would not chase you in the cruise mode unless you broke the speed limit or were in race mode and the pedestrian's insults were such fun to hear when you threatened them. And this was Midtown Madness one, not two. If such a game ever comes to Macs I would probably buy the MOMO.
I just loved cruising at sunset in the rain...
Star Wars Racer brings back fond memories too.
