I have a powerbook 5300cs which has a ppc 603e @ 100 MHz. Are there any good games for a system this old.
PS: it runs Mac OS 7.5.2 now, but I have os 8, 8.6, 9, and 9.1 cd-roms for it.
PPS: Only has 500 MB hdd, No internal CD-ROM, only SCSI

Master of Orion II is a great turn-based strategy game. I still play it from time to time I used to play it on a 33 MHz Performa 575 from a ZIP disk (yup, didn't have enough free space on the 250 MB hard drive!), and it ran on the lower half of "okay," so I'd imagine you'd be fine. IIRC it takes like 70 megs.

You can also try Diablo 1 (never, ever, ever gets old, I love it), SimCity 2000 (or SimAnt or SimTower), or Myst.

Old school gaming is the best.
Be happy.

Marathon, Marathon: Durandal, and Marathon: Infinity all come to mind. All should run pretty zippy. Myst, Riven, The Journeyman Project, and The Journeyman Project II: Buried in Time should also run. Buried in Time is also one of the best adventure games I've ever played, ever.

MechWarrior II might play ok - I played it on a 6100 and it played tolerably well.

Good question. MacNN is know for it's hard line aganist piracy, so you won't get any help with that from here. I am sure you could buy them, from a store, or from Ebay or somewhere else. Glider is btw free now

I bought Buried in Time recently on eBay for $10. There's currently a copy of Marathon 2, but it's for the PC. Bungie had an "Action Pac" available a while ago that included all their older games (including Labyrinth and Pathways into Darkness), and you still see those around.

You can play the first two Monkey Island games. I know they're pretty old, but they're awesome!

It's not a warez site, it's an abandonware site. The author of the site has permission to host the files, so download away.

LOTS of classic games including the original Dark Castle and others.

Depends on what you're into, but here're a couple of games worth playing:

Arcade:
- Escape Velocity Series (Escape Velocity, EV Override, EV Nova)
- Crystal Caliburn (Pinball game)

Adventure/RPG:
- Avernum Trilogy (formerly Exile Trilogy)
- Realmz

Platform/Other
- Quagmire
- Lemmings
- Apeiron

I had to reread the original post a few time before it sunk in . . .

From LucasArts, and still available or that eBay thang:
the original Dark Forces was fantastic on Mac - better and smoother rendering than the PC version, some real vertigo moments, and even if you have not played it in a long time - worth going back to.

And if you want new levels:
http://www.df-21.net/

The whole game was only 70MB with the NoCD patch you could run any of the add-on levels until your fingers hurt

when you are hooked to the SCSI CD player:
Full Throttle [only REALLY good the first time but I play it just to hear Ben say "Nah" and "I'm not putting my mouth on that"]

King of Dragon Pass.

A terrific, really fun, interesting game, and great deal at $20.

Oh, and if you can, get a cheap DOS emulator and get the game Darklands. That's the most addicting old PC game I've ever run into. I play it a lot still, it's really fun. King of Dragon Pass reminded me of it, that's why I brought it up.

It even still has a webpage dedicated to it: www.darklands.net

Ha! I'd give Maniac Mansion from LucasArts a try then. That was a fun and intriguing DOS mystery game.

lost soooo many hours on:
EV Override
EV Nova has many storylines, brilliant work from Ambrosia... that is pretty much everything from them - I went back to the site.

Buy one game and they throw in a CD for $5 of the old stuff.
Who needs a life when there are games to play!

Harry the Handsome Executive! If you've never played... surely you've slide around in an ergonomic rolley chair for a few hours...

I'd never thought I'd skip studying for finals to play Armor Alley!
