Are they really that different besides the game types and (not even fun-feeling) vehicles?

There's no questions that don't deserve answers. However, forum posters rarely respond well to logic.

Sorry that I asked ;-)

And I still can't get FragOps working. Sigh. I guess I will delete UT2003, reinstall, and try again.

But that still doesn't answer my question

Or, well, maybe I should ask 'what's so different about it, besides what I mentioned?'

NO don't do that! I got FragOps running!
You have to use an updated .ini from their forums.

Ok here's the thing,
UT99 was cool because it was HUGE. Every little bit of the gameplay could be customized; it had like a dozen weapons, some of which were rare and fun to look for(like the chainsaw ); it had a plethora of items and power-ups; it had large levels to explore; a bunch of gametypes that never got old; an extreme amount of skins, races, and team colors; and a UI that has yet to be matched.

UT03 had uh well... none of that and awful music. It was like someone took the gritty and cool UT99 but slapped on a classy suit and tie scooped out its vital organs.

UT04 brings back all the features lost in the transition from 99 to 03, plus new skins, new levels, new weapons, new races, and a brand new game type with *gasp* vehicles. It's not only the vehicles that make UT04 good, it brings back all of the former glory the UT franchise had lost.

I got the files from the sticky that Santaduck posted, but it didn't work. Still get errors while launching. Think I'm gonna go with the wipeout and reinstall method.

Caesar:

Thanks! I had no clue it was that good! I myself was a big fan of unreal and UT99.

I'll have to check it out!
