Now I hope I'm wrong about about this, but I remember reading about Rise of Nations on the Apple site awhile back. I believe it was introduced at some show (MWSF ?).

Now, there's no evidence of it on the site at all, as if it never existed.

Nothing on the Macplay site either.

So either it has been scrapped, or somebody is being very secretive about it, even though it was publicly announced some months ago.

I know theres developers who read this forum. Anybody got the inside scoop ?

I was so happy when this game was announced, It would be too bad if it gets scrapped.

To the best of my knowledge, it's never been announced for the Mac. There were some rumors, but I don't recall reading anything resembling an official announcement.

How could you have heard it was scrapped if it hasn't even been officially announced?

Yeah it was exhibited at Macworld but as of yet no "official" word about it from Westlake or Macsoft/Destineer.

There was another thread on here about it and someone said it was scraped and plus if MacSoft was working on it they should've made some progress by now and posted info about it.

Yes, it may not have been exhibited at Macworld, but it did definitely appear on this list, which I pulled from an earlier thread on Rise of Nations......

http://www.apple.com/games/macworld/sf04/

Apple has since deleted the Rise of Nations listing, since I first saw that link many months ago.

is the "someone" that claimed it had been scrapped? Unless they heard it from a known source I wouldn't believe what they said. And who's to say when a publish can and cannot release information about games they are publishing? The publisher can release news whenever they want.

I don't think RoN has been scrapped. I'm pretty sure that it's one of Westlake's codeworded projects (my guess, Russell).

Wouldn't MacSoft confirm or deny reports of RoN being scrapped if one of us fired off an e-mail and actually asked?

Ah my mistake. I had seen it was *supposed* to have been exhibited but was unaware that it actually was not.

Since the game hasn't been 'officially' announced, they might respond with a "We do not comment on unannounced projects" or something along those lines. Or maybe they'll finally get around to announcing it Or (grasping at straws here)... maybe once HaloCE was released they asked Westlake (assuming Russell is RoN) to reallocate resources toward a Mac version of HaloCE to appease the inevitable anger of Mac users over being left out (If that's the case Halo must suck to have to work on it). So with resources allocated toward HaloCE, then work on RoN would be slowed down a bit to where it's too early to announce it.
