Hi,

There are 2 or 3 really great looking COD total conversion mods out there, but they all appear to come on PC ".exe" installers. If I could get around the installer, I would think the mods should work on the Mac... most of the other mods and maps I have tried all work on the Mac.

Does anyone know if these exist somewhere in a Mac compatible format, or do any of you have the ability, or even know if it can be done, to extract the files on a PC and make a pack for us Mac users?

I don't have access to PCs and certainly wouldn't know how to hack a PC installer.

Oh, and I found the mods HERE at CODfiles.com. The ones that interest me most are Price of Peace, Revolt, and Heat of Battle.

Thanks!

-Ryan

An .exe file can be a compressed ZIP file too. If you have VPC you can unzip it in that using Winzip.

If it's just a exe style zip, you don't need VPC to unzip it.

Uhm, yeah, I know I can unzip the file, but the EXE is no good to me. I do not have a PC or VPC in order to run the EXE or get the files out of it.

I'm not asking about the zip, I'm asking about the EXE file, which is useless on the Mac.

And, I do know that Revolt works on the Mac as others have installed it thru VPC. Maybe one of these people will be nice enough to post the files somewhere for us Mac users.

Thanks again,

-Ryan

All we're essentially saying is that sometimes exe files can be unzipped like a normal zip file and if that's the case then you don't need a PC of any kind (real or virtual).

Have you tried contacting the mod creates to ask if they'll release standard zip version? You might get a friendlier response if you mention it's for you Linux version

Ah, I see. I did not know that EXEs can sometimes be unzipped. I'll try it and see what happens.

And, I posted in Lanclan's forum (the makers of Revolt), and they said they will release a ZIPed version with the next update.

And, I didn't get flamed for gaming on a Mac!

If anyone is interested, I got Revolt and Heat Of Battle installed and running. : )

The Revolt team (www.lanclan.com) says they will release a Mac download (.zip) with the next major version.

As for Heat Of Battle, I had to install it on a PC and copy the files over. I'm thinking about looking into a way to host the files somewhere for us Mac folks. And, the latest version of HOB is for CoD 1.4, but the older version (Version 3.0, I believe) works just fine with CoD 1.3

Where is that CoD 1.4 update anyway!?

Activision found a couple of bugs during the approval process. So Aspyr is fixing those now (if they haven't already).

Cool, good to hear!

I've seen you around these game forums a lot, and you really know your stuff. Who are you!? As in, do you work for a gaming company, or what?

Me? Nah, I don't get paid by any Mac gaming company. I just spend a little too much time in various forums. Well, way too much time.
