I have to say that xIII Demo is working VERY poorly on my mac.
I got like 18-20 fps on the game, it goes less then 5 when someone is talking or in the story mode. It is freaking lagged....
I don't think my mac is too slow....
I have 1Gmhz PowerBook with 768 MB of ram....
I think it's the program problem...

If you're having performance problems with the XIII demo, please make sure you're running version 1.0.1 rather than 1.0 - this version includes a couple of fixes for some video cards (e.g., the FX 5200 in some G5s).

If you're still hitting serious performance problems with that version, please send us an ASP report at xiiisupport AT zonic.co.uk. We are trying to reproduce this problem in-house so we can identify exactly what's going on - the best way to do that is to collect your system information, so we can see if there's a common factor (OS version, video card, driver, etc).

The fact that performance varies so dramatically for some people does point to it being an OS problem (as they're both running the same game executable). Which isn't to say we won't be able to work around it, but to do that we need as much information as possible about your system.

XIII demo seems to work very well even with maximum, full screen resolution, colours set to millions and anti-aliazing engaged, at least in the first scene on my 1.5 Ghz with only 512 MB VRAM. I may go a little further in the game later even though I am more of a 3rd person game fan. I just wanted to test the capability of my new 17" with a current game, and the 1.5 Ghz looks like a real keeper. I have seen smooth video in the game so far. I like the cartoon like rendering of the game also; it's different. More tests later perhaps guys.

My first download off macupdate didnt work either. I did it wirelessly a second time and it works. I completed the first stage. Unfortunately 1st person shooters make me nauseus, so that's about it for me. Just wanted to see how it worked on my 1.5 Ghz 17"

I don't know if this is of much help, but a friend of mine has the same problem, and finds that travel-sickness remedies tend to stop it, should he want to play a first-person-shooter for a decent amount of time. ^^;;

The game plays well enough on my 1.33 12in Powerbook, though all the settings are on low. I do occasionally have jerks and frame drops, but overall the game is very playable.

12in Powerbook, 1.33 G4, 768 RAM. Using a Disc Image.
