Just grabbed the collectors edition of the doom trilogy at Walmart for 10 bucks and now can't find the engines for os x. The disk includes Ultimate doom, doom 2 and final doom.
Anyone know of any links to downloads? I used the search in the forum but am coming up empty...Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Some folks really like Doom Legacy, but the Doomsday Engine runs circles around it IMHO, and with add ons like high resolution art, advanced models, dynamic lights, it's out of this world. No "OS X" port yet, www.doomsdayhq.com but the author gets his powerbook in a few days and hints that a port will soon follow. Let him know how much you'd appreciate it!
Enjoy.

That just looks like a heavily modified Doom engine. It reminds me of the mutilations the Aleph One team has done to the Marathon engine.
Frankly, if they're going to add more than OpenGL and high-res textures to a game, they should just call it something else altogether...'cuz it ain't Doom anymore. The Doomsday Engine team added support for some 3D models of weapons and monsters, corona effects, fog and other blasphemies that the Aleph One team is guilty of doing with the Marathon engine.
I know you can retain the original look and feel but this engine is fubared.
I'll keep Doom Legacy, thanks.

Different strokes for different folks That said, just because a feature is supported by Doomsday does not mean that you have to use and take advantage (or disadvantage depending upon your view point) of it. The model pack, like the high res texture pack, are seperate downloads and not in anyway necessary for normal game play. I do agree that the game feels a bit different with the add ons, but only in a great way, also someone is working on a high resolution model/texture revamp of the Alien-TC mod that was released but Justin Fisher so long ago! Will only work with Doomsday when it is done, as far as I know.
At any rate, I look forward to the port, and further options for Doom gaming on my beloved mac!

I dunno...if I wanted a different Doom experience, I'd just grab another engine's Doom total conversions. Quake engine? Quake 3 engine? Unreal engine?
Or buy Doom^3 when it's out. It's a remake of Doom...and the 3D models and lighting effects are much better than what I've seen in Doomsday's Doom+add ons.
There's no need to modify the original engine to add things that can be done with other engines. I consider it bloatware when things are needlessly tacked on to an app that could easily be done with another app.
I have a hard time swallowing what the Aleph One team did to the Marathon engine. I just wanted a port...not a whole new engine.
