1Ghz eMac with ATI Radeon 7500 32MB video. realMyst starts up and plays fine for a while then quits at the same spot everytime. I have tried different settings and the patch for realMyst but it still dies at the same place. Could I have a bad CD?

Any ideas?

I haven't tried RealMyst, but I remember back in the day when I was playing Riven and it would crash at the same spot every time... I think it was a bad CD...

I've played realMyst all the way through, visiting everywhere I could with no problems. Where in the game is it locking up?

And, if it is the CD, you could verify this by trying to copy the contents in the Finder or creating an image using Disk Utility. If they can't read the entire disk, the game won't be able to either.

Good idea...I will try this. The vendor is sending me a "back up copy" of the game to try.

I couldn't make a .dmg image as I got a error message that said "invalid argument". I was able to make a copy of the CD from the Finder and then instal from the copy. We got past where it was freezing up before but it will eventually freeze up solid. I have to use the on button to shut the computer down. It will freeze not crash like it did before and not always in the same spot. Still waiting for the CD from the vendor.
