Has anyone else gotten tired of this useless intro on every launch? Yes, you can click through it. Or you can disable it, this works in the UT2004 Demo and should work in the full version, which I'll be able to test in a few days. No idea if it will work in UT2003.

Open Home/Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo/System/

Make a copy of the file UT2004.ini if you like, for safety's sake, before editing.

Open UT2004.ini in a safe text editor like BBEdit. TextEdit can do it in text mode, save changes in RTF mode and you will need that backup of the file.

Near the very top of the file (line #6 in my copy), you will see the line:
LocalMap=NvidiaLogo.ut2

comment it out with a leading semicolon, then copy or type in the replacement line below, so it ends up looking like this:
;LocalMap=NvidiaLogo.ut2
LocalMap=NoIntro.ut2

Make sure the replacement line does not have the leading semicolon. Save the edited file. From now on, the game loads straight to the Main Menu.

nVidia makes some good cards, and some not-so-good cards. Hope they paid Epic a ton for that intro scene, I'd rather have the city or castle flyby.

I tried this out but then the menu music changed to that crappy symphony music that was used in UT2003. Is there a way to get the best of both worlds by disabling that logo and keeping the sorta remixed UT99 music that plays at the menu screen in 2k4?

I don't think so. I read this on another forum and it stated the music will revert to UT2k3.

That's what I thought. Ah well I'll just deal with the nvidia logo.

Oh thank goodness, my Radeon was starting to cry every time I launched it.

The no-nVidia-plug modification worked in the full UT2004 of course.

Now, for those who want the UT2004 menu music without the nVidia plug, here is the answer.

Show Contents on the UT2004 application, then open the Music folder. Locate the following music files:
KR-UT2003-Menu.ogg
KR-UT2004-Menu.ogg

Rename KR-UT2003-Menu.ogg -> KR-UT2003-MenuOld.ogg. Then duplicate KR-UT2004-Menu.ogg and rename the copy as KR-UT2003-Menu.ogg.

This solution works for the full UT2004, but not the UT2004 demo. The demo doesn't have the UT2003 music problem anyway, using the hack results in no menu music at all.

Thank you! That did the trick!

Do you know by any chance if this works on the Linux version of the game? I don't use my Mac for gaming due to inferior video cards (and no, I don't have the money for a Dual G5 with that new nVidia card).

I wouldn't see why not, it's just ini changes and duplicating a file that UT2k4 uses anyways. I say give a go and find out
