Since gold, the Mac port was definitely the big thing; it benefits both the Linux and the Mac version, but Mac had to come first. The Linux client is running pretty good, I'm getting surprisingly good performance compared to the Windows version, but I absolutely don't want to release something that's half-done or half-finished. I want to polish it; it should come together within a few weeks."

So it appears that the Mac version may be not as far away as first thought. Maybe a bit of wishful thinking but things could be worse

Wishful thinking...this is just the developer not wanting people to panic...but we won't be getting Doom 3 for a couple or a few months.

Well, my wife's 2.2GHz Dell laptop with a 64MB video card can barely handle it on minmum settings. It's quite playable, but once more than one or two monsters enter the screen at once, it gets quite choppy.
