I originally pirated this game to see how it would run, but I just purcahsed a copy. How do I change my junk serial to the legit one?

How about just trashing it and then installing it from that shiny DVD you've got there?

I don't think you can change the serial after you've installed... I'd just delete the Unreal Tournament application and reinstall... all the important save information is in your home folder.

Unreal Tournament 2004/System/cdkey

Edit with a real text editor like BBEdit Lite. Or use TextEdit in text mode.

You have to right click the App and chose Show Package Contents... I believe. I don't even have the game...

Since you originally pirated it, wipe your whole drive and reinstall everything from scratch

Do what The iMac Man mentioned to replace the CD-key. And while you're at it. Delete all your other pirated games and go buy the ones you like

Erm... you do know that your config for UT is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2004, but the CD key is stored in the Application itself. As long as you don't mess around inside the application itself, just trash it and reinstall.

He's already taking the most morally sound path that can be taken and still have piracy involved... no need to get on his back about it. Apparently, he already IS buying the games he likes.

If you are worried about piracy and feel forum posts can make a difference, I'd try a PC gaming forum somewhere.

What servers you all play on?

I play Onslaught on USSR and on Cain's Lair.

I also play Invasion on Happy Penguin servers.

I download any game before I buy it.

I wish I could do that with PS2 games, I'd have saved a lot of $.

Why? That's still stealing! You can't steal a car for awhile before you buy it.

You know, they DO make demos! And, UT2004 does have a demo....

You can rent them for a fraction of the price. I know that's not exactly free, but it gives you the tryout you're looking for.

Yes, but I've had demos that run quite a bit differently than the full program.

Anwyay, in reference to PS2 games I meant that I've spend $50 on a lot of SHITTY ps2 games. Renting can help, but a lot of the games I like are never at blockbuster.

Are you saying that Mac users are incapable of not getting the hint that pirating is bad, no matter what the reason?

Do they still print the CD key on little stickers at the back of the box so that you can go at a shop and write it down?
