What happened to all the Halo servers? I just went on to play, and there are only 195 servers with 118 players showing! All the Bungie servers are gone, and most have been gone for a while. I did notice that a PC patch to version 1.0.5 has been put out - I'd guess they did something that broke compatibility with the Mac 1.0.5 version.

Super. No Halo fix tonight

I'm running 1.0.4 and I see tons of servers. At least I did over the weekend.

This seemed to have happened just yesterday. I noticed it too. I think I'm running 1.04. I haven't seen any reason to upgrade to 1.05. I'd like to know what's up too!

The PC version was updated to 1.05, which has no relation to the Mac version 1.05. Since Gearbox is no longer working on the standard Halo PC port, I think someone at Microsoft may have made the update. I guess we'll see how long it takes for Westlake to get the code and roll the changes in to fix network compatibility.

Geez, I just got my G5 DP2.5 and Halo looks alot better than on my G4 and now Microsoft goes and breaks network compatility. Hopefully Westlake will receive the code soon and fix it. I think I'm down to about thirty some servers.

According to Peter Cohen, the patch (version 1.053) is in MacSoft's hands now.

That's good news... hopefully it'll fix the compatibility again. I only saw like 130 servers with about 100 players last night. Most of the servers were empty. I did find one and it was all Mac players! That was kind of nice - but the maps were heavily modded - tons of vehicles, you could fall from high up and not die (though that was kind of cool). And the portals under the flag base in the Infinity level that transported you to the top of the tower was cool too.

I'll be looking for the patch...

Apparently the patch is out now... see http://www.macworld.com/news/2004/09/10/halo/index.php

I'll have to try it when I get home.

That was fast Westlake and Macsoft!

Patch works perfectly. Now I can see all the servers, and the Bungie servers are back also.

I'm getting a little misty here. I need a moment...

I just recently installed the update (1.0.5.3) but now the "Join" button in the multiplayer screen does not work. Neither does the "Create" button for hosting a game. Any suggestions, experience, insights?

Thanks All

Try putting in your IP address in the corresponding box in the startup dialog box.

Just another note.. looks like the Bungie servers are out of commission again - or another sneaky change was made to make then incompatible again. There are tons of other servers, but it'd be nice if the Bungie servers were there. The EU-Bungie servers are there, more or less, but being in MA, the ping/lag time is pretty bad.
