I've got my key, my jewel case, my box, and manual - just not the DVD!

Is there any way to replace it? Make my installed copy think I haven't lost the DVD?

I would hate to have to buy the game all over again, but that's the only solution I know if.

On the Atari site they say that loss of CDs is the owners fault - fair enough, but they also offer no way to obtain a replacement :-(

Any ideas?

That is their way of saying you have to buy it again.

You should always make a disc image of your game CDs/DVDs, that way you can just pop off a new one when something like this happens.

Not everyone has a DVD burner to just pop off backups of their DVD disks.

I can't check their website at the moment but many companies will sell you a replacement disk for a small fee and shipping. Disks are cheap, what you paid $50 for was really the Key...

I have several friends with the DVD - they just got it and are playing after-hours at work now. I went to join in when I noticed the missing disc. We're in the process of moving house so it's probably in one of a million (or more :-) boxes.

How can I copy the DVD? Just with Disk Utility? That sounds too easy :-) I'll give it a try.

disk utility or toast should work, unless it has some kind of protection.

Yeah, use Disc Utility. And, make sure you choose "Master Disc"

Thanks guys! It worked!

Thanks for mentioning the CD Master selection, I wouldn't have known about that.

Saved me a double-whammy on the sales price. Thanks again!

Speaking of UT2004, I have the PC version. I recently got a mac, is there any way I can install it on my mac? I know the Windows and Linux versions use the same data files, only the executable is different, but can I get a mac executable somewhere and can I use my same CD key for it?

Guess I just have to keep playing it in Linux, then.

Heh, that's still a lot better than having to play it in Windows!

Windows? What's that? I don't think I have a copy of that...

Been using Linux exclusively since oh, around 1.5 years ago. Just stopped its exclusive use in August, with the delivery of my iBook.

Then again, my iBook probably won't have the best UT2k4 performance, anyway, not that my Radeon 9700 Pro does so great in Linux (decent, but not great. Damn you ATI and your horrid Linux drivers )

Don't need one. Just store it on your hard drive or an external. And if you don't have a viable backup plan in store, you're in the weeds far from than just a lost game disc.

well not exactly if you have nothing irreplacable and it would take longer to back it up then replace it then it doesn't matter. but most people should be backing things up. sad thing is though most people just buy a new computer when something as simple as an internal battery dies.
