i saw the 3-in-1 pack at Best Buy last night for $14. is there anything out there like the Fruitz of Dojo conversions for Quake and Q2???

Yeah, there is. It's the Doom Legacy project. I've been playing Doom on OS X for quite some time. But I'm also too lazy to find the link to their site, so just do a search for it and you'll have Doom goodness on OS X.
