He's working his azz off. That entailed a LOT of debugging along with his day job. He's also investigating ways to make the thing faster vs just porting and walking away.

Fantastic effort!

The original Unreal Tournament running native under OSX.

UT = UT99 = UTPG

I don't know what UTPG stands for ... Unreal Tournament Preservation Group?

Glenda Adams, while still president of Westlake, did a spare-time port of UT to OSX. The port reached preview #3 and runs fair, but there are various glitches remaining. Epic has since turned the UT source code over to UTPG.org, which has updated the code to fix various bugs.

UTPG has released free updated builds for Windoze and Linux, but there are no Mac files available yet. The guy at icculus (Ryan Gordon) is the same guy who did the UT2003 and UT2004 ports to Mac, and he volunteered to finish the Mac OSX port under UTPG.

It has unfortunately been a long time coming, because he does so much more. Check out the other games listed on his icculus page, he ports and/or updates most of them on the Mac, and apparently Linux as well.

Heh...UT '99 will probably require Mac OS X 10.3.6.

Unless the drivers are locked for 10.3.6, like the ATI drivers for 10.3.4 were locked without the 9800 Pro DVD hotfix which came out almost right after 10.3.3 came out.
