As many of you probably already know, those of us that got into the closed beta for WoW have formed a guild. We'd like to get some measure of how many of you will be playing WoW, and how much interest you'd have in joining our (mac) guild (that we call The Reservoir DogCows). I know I've enjoyed the company of fellow MacNNers and we're curious how many of you'd like to join the fold, so speak up!

I am personally also curious what kind of gameplay you're interested in. The options are:
1) Horde or Alliance
2) PvP or PvE
If you choose Horde, your racial choices are:
a) Undead
b) Orc
c) Troll
d) Tauren
If you choose Alliance, your racial choices are:
a) Human
b) Dwarf
c) Night Elf
d) Gnome
As to PvP (Player-versus-Player) or PvE (Player-versus-Environent), it's too complex for me to summarize, except to say that in PvP you can more easily fight with the opposing faction (and they can fight with you). Here are some links:

Definitely PvP for me. I've grown up playing PvP MUDs and had fun dueling people in Diablo II...but the thought of being able to attack or be attacked by pretty much anyone at anytime is much more realistic to me and makes a game more exciting.
As long as the PvP system is fair, PvP is awesome.

PvP is pretty fair, and the implentation is getting better all the time... I have played it a little, but not as much as the other Dogcows, I am sure that if I get anythgin wrong they will be more than ahppy to correct me!
Basically there is an 'Honor' system in PvP.
If you kill someone of an equal or higher level to yourself, it is classed as an 'honourable kill'. When you get to a certain amount of honor, you get benfots like being able to buy special items, get special benefit and titles like 'Defender of the Realm' or such like.
If you kill someone below your level, or 'gank' people, you get a 'dishounorable kill'. When you get a low enough ranking you may not be able to visit some shops etc, do some quests etc, and eventually be branded a 'criminal', targetable by even yourown faction!
Also, although not at release, there will be 'battlegrounds' in certain areas... Areas set aside purely for set PvP Battles!

Sounds really cool.
I can't wait to sign my life away to the World of Warcraft. I know Adam Betts did.

You may want to read the naming restrictions. Anything "immersion breaking" is not allowed.

It was a joke. I'm probably the best roleplayer on this forum. I'll have a fitting name don't worry.

I would play, but I only play Horde and the PvP DogCows sucked(No offense) So now I have my guild "Ghouls Gone Wild" because Blizzard banned our first name "Two Dolla Whorde". ANyways I might play if you guys were PvP and Horde.
On closed beta I'm Deathorc <-- Clever name

Actually, while I am the first person to appreciate a pun (good or bad) and I know you all went through a long process to arrive at it, I have to point out that your guild name itself is immersion-breaking in two different ways. As beta-testers here well know, there is a huge split in the beta community on this issue. Some folks don't want to see players running around with real world references in their names and guild names, whilst many other players have no problem with it whatsoever. Blizzard's enforcement has been rather arbitrary, clamping down way too hard in some cases and letting other obvious violations slide right by. You might want to have a standby guild name ready, in case they decide to make you change it to something less obviously referential. Then again, maybe you'll get lucky!
Seems like someone ought to start an all-Tauren guild called "Longhorns" to PvP with you all... ;-)
Personally, if they ever get around to having a dedicated RP server, I am there - not because I am rabid to roleplay, but simply so I wouldn't have to see players like "xXSlayaaXx" or "pwnsJOO" running around. Even with the policy clampdown, there are still a surprising amount of players running around with names that are clearly in violation (people with names formed from two words, designated with two capitals).
Some players have suggested a "free for all" server, where anything goes - and I think that is a good idea. Everyone gets what they want then...

You know, I was just thinking... they haven't hassled the "Deadly Viper Assassins" guild, and that's about as blatant a reference as you can get - so I'd guess they'd crack down on them before they hassled you all. Maybe Blizzard are just big Tarantino fans!
The silly thing is that they themselves have so many pop-culture references in the game... makes it hard to take the policy seriously, since it obviously doesn't cut both ways...

i'm hoping for PvP on the alliance side. Horde is nice and all, but the alliance cities are much better planned out. That was the only reason I didn't join the cows on the PvP...i was alliance. You'll also have to decide which server you will be playing on...(if you have a choice)

True. The forced servers concept is by far the biggest issue going on with WoW right now. It's shaping up to be a major obstacle for guilds and for an internationalized gaming community in general. Nothing to do on this one but wait and see how it shakes out on release...

Well... we do have several people from Apple and VU in the guild so maybe that helps. Furthermore, if the guild "mAc" can stay so can we.
"Two Dolla Whorde" is an obvious blatantly rude and offensive name for a guild and a perfect example of why a naming policy was put in place.
